All of us have a story to tell and a legacy to leave. Below are inspiring stories of faithful supporters like you. Each has included World Vision in their estate plan so they can continue to support World Vision after their lifetime - it's their legacy of love to the world's children.
Tom and Jill Demske, Michigan
part of the World Vision family since 2007
Tom and Jill have always had a heart for children living in poverty. "God asked us to act on our faith," recalls Tom. They responded to this call by sponsoring a child through World Vision. After that first step, the Demskes couldn't help but want to sponsor more.
"My parents passed away in 2008," says Tom. "We wanted to use some of the money they left us to help carry on God's kingdom." So they decided to sponsor two more kids through World Vision. "It seemed like the natural thing to do," he explains.
Tom wishes they could sponsor a thousand kids but knows there are other ways they can contribute. "I am looking for where I can best serve," he shares. Both husband and wife actively seek out ways to do just that. Not only are they active in their church's small group and outreach ministries, but Tom also decided to become a World Vision Child Ambassador. Together with Jill's help, he works to represent World Vision and child sponsorship to their local community.
Their desire to serve the Lord has led them to name World Vision as a beneficiary of their living trust. "There are a few organizations that I trust to do God's work with our estate," says Tom. "I have had a lot of interaction with World Vision, and I know they are as trustworthy as you can get." He was able to see World Vision's work first hand when he traveled to the Dominican Republic to visit one of their sponsored children.
Tom and Jill feel good about giving back what the Lord has blessed them with. "God commands that we help the poor," says Tom. He commands us to give, and He commands us to serve." And that is exactly what Tom and Jill are doing.
"It gives me a sense that I am leaving some kind of legacy, and I know that the money is going to do something good," shares Jill. The couple feels a sense of fulfillment knowing that their blessings will continue to serve others beyond their lifetimes. "It all belongs to God," says Tom. "It came from Him and it's all His. We can't take any of it with us."
