Building a better world for children today and tomorrow....

All of us have a story to tell and a legacy to leave. Below are inspiring stories of faithful supporters like you. Each has included World Vision in their estate plan so they can continue to support World Vision after their lifetime - it's their legacy of love to the world's children.

We know that we can really make an impact in a child's life.
"We know that we can really make an impact in a child's life."

Bruce and Karen Barnes, Wisconsin
Part of the World Vision family since 2010

Bruce and Karen first began sponsoring a child with World Vision through their church. Though their church has a community partnership with Swaziland, Karen instead decided to sponsor a little girl from Mozambique because their son lived and worked there. She shares that he was touched when she told him. "World Vision does such good work!" he confirmed.

Karen enjoys that sponsorship gives her the opportunity to make a personal connection. This is one reason she chose to sponsor Flora, a young girl who shares her birthday. "I feel we are all connected," she expresses. "And I think this is what God plans for us to feel."

The other thing Bruce and Karen love about sponsorship is the reward of knowing that they are making a difference in a child's life. They want to ensure that their impact will continue even when they are no longer here. "When we did our estate planning, we were very deliberate," she shares. "We want to have a local, national, and international impact. And we believe that we can have the best international impact through World Vision."

"I called World Vision and wanted to know how we could guarantee our sponsored child would be cared for if something happened to us," she explains. "We found out that we could name World Vision as a beneficiary of our trust. So that is what we opted to do."

Though Karen believes she'll see Flora grow into an adult, she finds it comforting to know that the young girl will continue to be cared for if she and her husband pass on before this happens. And she knows that should Flora no longer need their support, their gift will continue to help others like her. "We know other children will benefit from it," she says confidently.
