All of us have a story to tell and a legacy to leave. Below are inspiring stories of faithful supporters like you. Each has included World Vision in their estate plan so they can continue to support World Vision after their lifetime - it's their legacy of love to the world's children.
Part of the World Vision family since 1972
For Evelyn, sponsoring children has always been about teaching her family the importance of giving. She started sponsoring when her three children were little. "I wanted my kids to know that there were many other children in the world who were less fortunate than they were," she shares.
In addition to teaching her family about giving, Evelyn enjoys corresponding with her sponsored children. "Every time I get a letter, my heart is touched," she shares.
Evelyn's family has learned from her example. "All three of my children have continued to sponsor children," she says. "It is really wonderful, and I am glad that they have continued on with this." Her nine grandchildren are also involved in giving.
Whether through hosting missionaries in her home, teaching her children to tithe, or showing them the joys of sponsorship, Evelyn has always been very intentional about sharing her passion for the Lord's work. And she wanted this passion to continue beyond her lifetime.
So as Evelyn began planning for the future, she kept her sponsored children and World Vision in mind. "I don't have a great deal of money," she shares. "But I have always tithed?that is something that is important to me."
Because Evelyn believes in modeling generosity to her family, she decided to make giving an important part of her estate plan. "I thought that rather than expect my children to tithe 10 percent of what they inherit, I would just include it in my plan." Evelyn made World Vision a beneficiary of her IRA, leaving a legacy of giving that will continue to help children for years to come.
