All of us have a story to tell and a legacy to leave. Below are inspiring stories of faithful supporters like you. Each has included World Vision in their estate plan so they can continue to support World Vision after their lifetime - it's their legacy of love to the world's children.
Earline Jefferson, New York
Part of the World Vision family since 2005
Growing up in Harlem, Earline constantly witnessed her mother extending a hand to others in need?even in the midst of personal hardship. "My mother was very generous," she recalls. "We didn't have anything ourselves; we were poor." But, as Earline goes on to share, that never stopped her mother from giving to others. Her mother's compassionate heart inspired Earline to be generous with her own resources. Today, the former telephone company manager and Sunday school teacher continues to make it a priority to give as much as she can to help others.
"It's not that I have so much; I am by no means rich," explains Earline. "I just feel as if I am rich because I have everything I need. God has been very good to me."
Sponsoring a child through World Vision is one way Earline enjoys sharing her blessings. She likes to write to her sponsored child?a girl from an HIV and AIDS-impacted community in Cambodia?whenever she can. "The world is part of your family," she says. "And you have the joy of giving."
This is one of the things that led Earline to include World Vision in her estate plan. "I had this annuity, and I never took money out of it. So I thought, this is my chance to do something."
Now the legacy of generosity passed down by her mother will be extended beyond Earline's own lifetime. "I feel so good about doing this," she confides.
"Most people think they can only give to their family," she says. But for Earline, that's simply not enough. "The church is part of your family too, and the world is part of your family. While you can't save everyone, maybe you can save one or two. But you have to step out and not stay in your little corner."
"God's grace will put you in the position to give to someone else," adds Earline. He gives you so many chances."
