All of us have a story to tell and a legacy to leave. Below are inspiring stories of faithful supporters like you. Each has included World Vision in their estate plan so they can continue to support World Vision after their lifetime - it's their legacy of love to the world's children.
John & Susan Priesmeyer, Missouri
Part of the World Vision family since 1985
John and Susan were just starting their new life together when images of famine appeared on their television set. Ethiopia seemed a million miles from Michigan. Yet from the start, Susan was determined to help.
John was a bit more cautious at first: "We were a young couple, and I didn't think we could afford it." Soon, however, they agreed to sponsor a child through World Vision. "After we did," John says, "we didn't really miss the money. God returned the blessing."
And He's been returning it ever since.
Now, in addition to sponsoring children and donating items from World Vision's Gift Catalog, John and Susan have added World Vision to their living trust. "We sat down with an attorney to set up our estate," John explains, "and he asked us where we wanted the money to go."
After a few moments of prayerful contemplation, the answer became clear. "If we are giving to charities during our life," John asks, "why would we want that to stop when we are gone? We can't take it with us."
In the end, it's about being a part of God's work in the world. "His children come first," Susan says, "and we've decided the best place to put our tithe is with World Vision."
