All of us have a story to tell and a legacy to leave. Below are inspiring stories of faithful supporters like you. Each has included World Vision in their estate plan so they can continue to support World Vision after their lifetime - it's their legacy of love to the world's children.
Gwen Bradley, Washington
World Vision partner since the early 1950s
Gwen is an unlikely hero. Over nine decades of life, she's faced-and overcome-more than her fair share of adversity. At birth, Gwen weighed just four pounds. The family doctor advised her parents to give up on her. But they wouldn't listen, and Gwen survived.
While still a toddler, Gwen watched as the 1918 flu pandemic took her younger brother. Her father died of heart failure just a few years later.
But this adversity instilled in Gwen a quiet determination to serve others. As a result, she devoted much of her career as an educator to helping underprivileged children.
In the early 1950s, Gwen's path crossed with a young evangelist named Bob Pierce-the founder of World Vision. Gwen heard about the needs of children all over the world and decided to help. She's been sponsoring children through World Vision ever since.
Gwen has long since lost count of how many children she's helped-but she's never forgotten why she continues to support World Vision. "[They're] not just giving a meal and disappearing," she says, referring to the long-term support World Vision provides for entire communities.
In 1986, Gwen set up her first charitable gift annuity with World Vision. It turned out to be the first of several. From these annuities, Gwen receives fixed payments for life. And someday, the remainder will be used to benefit children in need.
"It's a steady, dependable addition to my income," Gwen says. "And knowing that I'm helping change lives-even after I'm gone-makes me feel part of God's plan."
After more than nine decades, Gwen continues to help others overcome adversity. "I'm helping children-and it helps me, too. It's a double blessing."
